As rest of the Kerala celebrates Onam, Congress MP K Suresh and leaders from Kuttanad in Alappuzha are observing a hunger strike outside the secretariat in solidarity with farmers protesting for allegedly not getting the price of paddy procured from them.
Extending people in Kerala his Onam wishes on Tuesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also has a political exhortation to make. While extending his greetings, the Chief Minister said, "Let's stand together to have a Union government that treats everyone equally.".
On X, Kerala CM said, Onam is a celebration of prosperity, brotherhood, and equality, and the festival should inspire everyone to strengthen human unity beyond caste and religious division.
The 10-day Onam celebrations in Kerala started with the Atham celebrations on August 20. It is a festival that honours King Mahabali and Vamana (incarnation of Lord Vishnu).
As Malayalis across the world celebrate Thiruvonam, prominent leaders of the country, including President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extended their Onam greetings on Tuesday. While the President spoke about expressing gratitude to Mother nature on the occasion of Onam,

President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday extended greetings to people in Kerala on the occasion of Onam, saying that on this auspicious occasion, we express our gratitude to mother nature for the countless bounties.
With the onset of the traditional harvest festival Onam, the state capital is celebrating the festival with traditional gaiety with this year's theme ‘Onam, Oru Eenam’ (Onam, the symphony of harmony).
