In a post on X, Kashmir Zone Police informed about the development and said, "Two terrorists have been neutralised in Sopore encounter. Identification and affiliation is being ascertained. Incriminating materials, arms and ammunition recovered. Further details shall follow."
A top Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) commander was killed during an operation with the security forces in Srinagar. Four jawans were also injured during the encounter which came to end on Saturday evening, IGP Birdi said earier in the day.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir Zone, Vidhi Kumar Birdi said that a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) Commander was killed in an encounter in Khanyar area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Kashmir Zone Police has however denied the reports and has said that the Jammu Kashmir Police is committed to ensuring the security and a safe environment for the individuals in the state.
An encounter is underway between security personnel and terrorists in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, said Kashmir Zone Police on Saturday morning.
"Encounter has started at Ahlan Gagarmandu area of District Anantnag. Police and Security forces are on the job," read a post on the official X handle of Kashmir Zone Police.

Kashmir Zone Inspector General of Police VK Birdi on Sunday visited the Baltal main yatra camp to assess the security arrangements and reviewed various facilities in preparation for the annual Amarnath Yatra.
"It is a multi-tier security. As per the security protocols, the high-alert security arrangement has been made here," IGP Kashmir Zone Vidhi Kumar Birdi told ANI on Wednesday.
