Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families of five army soldiers who were killed in am ambush by terrorists in the Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir on July 8.
The encounter broke out between terrorists and a joint team of the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Bajimaal area of Dharamsala in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district.
According to officials, the exchange of fire is currently underway between terrorists and a joint team comprising personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Army and Police.
Three Lashkar-e-Toiba terrorists have been gunned down in the ongoing firefight with security forces in the Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, sources said on Friday.
The encounter which broke out between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam district entered into second day on Friday, police said.
According to Kashmir Zone police, the encounter broke out at DH Pora area in Samno village of Kulgam, and is underway. They said that police and security forces are on duty.
"Encounter has started at Alshipora area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Police Zone said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
"2 terrorists killed. Bodies of the killed terrorists are being retrieved from the site of the encounter. The cordon & search operation is still in progress. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Police Zone said in a post on X.
