The India Meteorological Department has predicted light to moderate rainfall over most parts of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area with thunderstorms and lighting expected at isolated locations.
The India Meteorological Department has said that the cyclonic storm Fengal is likely to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram with a wind speed of 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph on Saturday evening.
Speaking to ANI, Dr S Balachandran said, "...Mostly coastal districts, the crossing point is between Karaikal to Mahabalipuram near Puducherry, so, all along the coastal districts, the impact will be more. There will be wind and rainfall. Today the wind speed was 50-60 kmph and gusting to 70
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the depression, currently moving northwestwards, is expected to cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram, near Puducherry, by the morning of November 30.

As per the weather department, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Mayiladuthurai, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Pudukkottai, Ramanathapuram, Villuppuram districts, Puducherry and Karaikal area today.
