IMD warns of heavy rain and thunderstorm in next two-three days in Tamil Nadu

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday released a bulletin regarding the weather forecast for Tamil nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.

New Delhi [India], October 17 (ANI): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday released a bulletin regarding the weather forecast for Tamil nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area.
A depression over the west-central and southwest Bay of Bengal moved west-northwestwards and crossed the north Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Nellore, near Chennai on Thursday.
Subsequently, it weakened into a well-marked low pressure area and lay over South coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining North coastal Tamil Nadu at 0530 IST on Thursday. The well-marked low pressure area persists over the same region at 0830 IST and and associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 Km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move west-northwestwards and weaken further into a low pressure area during next 06 hours. A cyclonic circulation lies over north Lakshadweep & neighbourhood at 5.8 km above mean sea level.
Meanwhile, light to moderate rain at a few places with Thunderstorm and lightning at one or two places is likely to occur over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area from Thursday till Sunday. While, Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem and Erode districts on Friday.
Subsequently, heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts; Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur and Perambalur districts on Sunday.
IMD also alert for heavy rainfall at isolated places over Ghat areas of Coimbatore and Tiruppur districts; Ranipet, Vellore, Tirupattur, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Salem, Tiruchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Pudukkottai, Ariyalur and Perambalur districts on Monday.
Thunderstorm with lightning is likely to occur at one or two places over Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal area from Thursday till Monday.
For next 24 hours, the sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Light/ Moderate with thunderstorm & lightning is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum temperature is likely to be 33-34°C and Minimum temperature is likely to be 25-26°C.
IMD also said that Sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Light/ Moderate with thunderstorm & lightning is likely to occur in some areas for next 48 hours. Maximum temperature is likely to be 33-34°C and Minimum temperature is likely to be 25-26°C. (ANI)
