Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday performed 'Kanya Pujan' in the Nari Shakti Mahotsav and said that matri shakti or mother power has had an important contribution in the creation of Uttarakhand state.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday slammed Congress leader Digvijaya Singh's remark of 'natak-nautanki' (drama) about 'Kanya Pujan' and asked Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi to clear Congress' stand on the matter.
On the occasion of 'Maha Navami', the ninth day of Shardiya Navratri, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed 'Kanya Pujan' and offered prayers to 'Matri Shakti' (mother power) by washing the feet of maidens in Gorakhpur on Monday.
During this, CM Chouhan showered flower petals on girls, washed their feet and served food to them. The chief minister also fed the girls with his own hand on the occasion.

He worshipped nine girls, symbolising nine manifestations of the goddess Durga. As part of the ritual, girls were made to stand on a metallic plate as Chief Minister Yogi washed their feet, applied tilak on their foreheads, and performed their 'Aarti' amid chanting of mantras.
