The Uttarakhand government has distributed an amount of Rs 2.85 crore to 190 families affected by land subsidence as advance for displacement, said Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha on Monday.
CM Sukhu held a meeting with disaster management officers and DCs of all the districts at the secretariat regarding the possibilities of such incidents in Himachal Pradesh.
The apex court was hearing a plea seeking immediate intervention by the top court to direct the Centre to assist in reparation work and providing of urgent relief to people of Joshimath in Uttarakhand, who are living in fear in the wake of a landslide and subsidence.

A team from the Prime Minister's Office visited disaster-hit areas of Joshimath in Uttarakhand's Chamoli and inspected the situation, an official said on Sunday.
"The work is in progress. Workers have been deployed to rebuild the wall. They are facing some issues. I was not here when the wall collapsed," Prabhas, a local said while talking to ANI.
Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha on Sunday inspected the landslide-affected areas in Uttarakhand's Joshimath and said that there has been an uptick in the number of cracks, but no new areas have faced damages.
