Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday got emotional while meeting the affected families at Joshimath town of the state's Chamoli district.
The crucial Joshimath-Malari border road in the Chamoli district which connects the China border has developed cracks at several places due to landslides in Joshimath.
Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines, Pralhad Joshi on Saturday inaugurated a state-of-the-art Medical Center constructed by Vedanta Sesa Goa in Hubli.
The coordination committees have been formed to provide help in relief and rescue of the people affected by the landslide. During his inspection of Joshimath landslide area, the Chief Minister also met the victims.
Chamoli District Magistrate Himanshu Khurana on Saturday said that there is no subsidence in the entire area of Joshimath but there is a part of the city where there are cracks which is not big.
A plea has been filed in the Supreme Court to immediately intervene to assist the reparation work of Uttarakhand and to provide urgent relief to the people of Joshimath facing extremities and danger to their life and property.
Earlier in the day, CM Dhami also conducted a survey of the areas in the town where houses and other establishments, roads and fields have displayed cracks due to land subsidence.
