Janata Dal (United) MLC Ghulam Gaus on Monday strongly opposed the Waqf Amendment Bill, calling it an attack on religious matters and accusing the Centre of repeatedly targeting minorities with unfair policies.
"Waqf (Amendment) Bill is a direct attack on the constitution and against its foundation, it has been bulldozed through the JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee), we are opposed to it. If they implement it, we will we will oppose it democratically," Jairam Ramesh told ANI.
The speculation started when Janata Dal-United (JDU) supporters put up a poster outside the party office in Patna in support of CM Nitish Kumar's son Nishant Kumar.

Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav on Wednesday slammed CM Nitish Kumar for the collapse of law and order in the state, citing rising crimes, jail torture, and criminal activity across districts. He accuses Nitish of protecting criminals and failing to deliver justice.
Taking a dig at Nitish Kumar, Yadav said that the latter only cares about power. "He doesn't care about anything. Sab koi jae bhaad mein, apan kursi ke jugaad mein."
"The leaders of RJD know that none of their tricks will work this time. They adopt absurd tactics but no matter what tactics they adopt, the public will form the NDA government this time," the RLM president told ANI.
