Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has implemented a robust security plan to safeguard pilgrims travelling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44).
Vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar NH-44 will remain suspended for the whole day on May 21, said Rohit Baskotra, Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, National Highway.
The Jammu and Kashmir Traffic Police advised commuters not to undertake journeys through the highway without confirmation from the Traffic Control Units (TCUs).
Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH44) will be closed for traffic at Kishtwari Pathar and Dhalwas in Ramban district from 8 am on Tuesday until 8 am on Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, Joginder Singh, confirmed the accident and said that the tragic accident occurred near Tikri along the Jammu-Srinagar national highway while the family was on its way from Jammu to Udhampur.

The JK police have put up barricades at strategic locations to conduct security checks on the Jammu Srinagar national highway for safe and smooth conduct of the celebrations.
"Traffic halted from both sides due to shooting stones at Mehad, Ramban on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. People are advised to co-operate with traffic police. SSG road and Mughal road through for vehicular movement," Jammu and Kashmir (J-K) Traffic police said in a post on X.
