The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has taken up the matter with Pratt and Whitney (P&W) regarding the three incidents of engine failure in IndiGo flights in quick succession leading to In-flight Shut down (IFSD) demanding Original equipment manufacturer (OEMs) urgent interv
In the second such instance in a time difference of a few hours, an IndiGo flight from Kolkata to Bengaluru on Tuesday reported a mid-air glitch after one of its engines shut down but landed safely.
The Indigo flight is scheduled to depart from Bengaluru's Kempe Gowda International Airport at 9.50 am and arrive at the Shivamogga Airport at 11.05 am.
One of the Pratt and Whitney engines of the aircraft shut down mid-air, officials said adding that the plane is now grounded at the Mumbai airport and is currently undergoing necessary checks.

The passenger identified as Kavraj Tagat Singh, a resident of Rajasthan, was found smoking in the toilet of an IndiGo Dubai-Mumbai flight when it was airborne.
"IndiGo flight 6E 2172 operating from Delhi to Ranchi returned to Delhi as a precaution due to a momentary technical caution," the airline said in its statement.
"Indigo flight 6E 2433 to Delhi, three minutes after departure from Patna airport reported one engine inoperative. The aircraft landed safely at 0911 hours. All operations are normal at the airport," the airport director said.
