Curfew has been imposed under section 144 in Manipur after clashes broke out between Kuki and the Meitei communities on May 3. The violence that followed has claimed over 100 lives and displaced thousands.

A mob allegedly torched the residence of Union Minister of State for External Affairs RK Ranjan Singh at Kongba in Imphal late Thursday night, confirmed the Manipur Government.
As per the official records close to 47,000 people have been evacuated in the violence-torn situation and hundreds of people lost their homes which were gutted in the violence.
It sought "Directions to be passed to the Indian Army to take full control of the law and order and public order situation in the districts of Churachanpur, Chandel, Kangpokpi, Imphal East, and Imphal West."
MoS Rajkumar Ranjan Singh speaking on the violence in Khamenlok area, Imphal East said, "...There are about 14 designated camps. Let the monitoring agency should monitor whether all of those activists are in their designated camp and whether their weapons are deposited or not..."
"9 people have lost their lives in Manipur violence, yesterday. Modi Govt's shameless drumbeating about Northeast India has drowned the voices of humanity in Manipur," tweeted Kharge.
