Security personnel have been deployed in the area near the BJP regional office in Imphal, Manipur where a crowd had gathered earlier on Thursday evening. The crowd has been dispersed and now the situation is under control.

The Congress leader will be in Manipur on June 29 and 30 during which he is scheduled to visit relief camps and interact with civil society representatives in Imphal and Churachandpur.

Terming the sectarian violence in Manipur as "unfortunate", Hengjen village chief Kammang Khongdum on Tuesday said that the education of students has hampered since the ethnic clashes erupted.
According to the police, the situation in the northeastern state is tense in some places but it is improving in most places with almost no untoward incident during the last 24 hours.
