The Punjab Police arrested one person after recovering one kg of heroin and Rs 27 lakh of drug money from his possession during a cordon and search operation (CASO) raids, police informed on Wednesday.
The agency said on the basis of specific Intelligence, an Indian National, who had arrived from Harare to Mumbai via Nairobi vide Kenya Airways was intercepted yesterday.
Heroin weighing 2 kg and 180 grams was recovered by the Robertsganj Police Special Operations group and surveillance team in Uttar Pradesh's Sonbhadra. The cost of heroin is estimated at around Rs 2.25 crores. The police have arrested ten accused including a woman.
"The arrested drug smuggler was en route to deliver drug consignment after retrieving from the border area," Director General of Police (DGP), Punjab Gaurav Yadav said.
