The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled a smuggling attempt in Punjab's Amritsar and seized three packages suspected to be containing 3.210 kg of heroin wrapped with adhesive tape, the force said on Saturday.

"On January 3, 2024, during the afternoon hours, on specific information from the BSF regarding the presence of a consignment, alert BSF troops launched a search operation on the outskirts of the village of Naushera Dhalla, District Tarn Taran," the BSF said in a statement.
According to officials, at first, an accused identified as Mohd Nasir alias Kaku (19), involved in drug trafficking, was arrested near Anand Vihar Bus Terminal with 426 grams of heroin. At his instance, another accused, Mohd Bijli was apprehended from Delhi's Haiderpur, police said.

According to the police, the arrested persons transported the drugs from Rajasthan to Hyderabad. The arrested were identified as Umesh Tiwari,35, a resident of Sultanpur, Uttar pradesh, Suresh Dewasi,26, a resident of Bhinmal, Rajasthan, and Ravla Ram, 22, a resident of Sanchore, Rajasthan.
The BSF troops on Saturday heard a buzzing sound of a suspected flying object coming from the Pakistan side after which a joint search operation was launched by BSF and Punjab Police on the outskirts of Mari Kamboke village in Tarn Taran district.
"During search two numbers of soap cases of heroin have been seized from the specially made chambers of the vehicle. The police team apprehended four persons," SP Numal Mahatta said.
