As the cold wave condition continues to prevail in Himachal Pradesh, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicts more snow and rainfall in the higher regions of the state for the next two days.
Amid heavy snowfall and severe weather conditions, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) launched a snow clearance drive on Chowkibal-Tangdhar road in J-K's Kupwara district on Monday.
The State Emergency Operation Centre informed that traffic movement along four national highways including the Manali Leh National Highway NH-03, Kullu's Highway NH 705, Kinnaur Highway NH-05 and Lahoul Spiti Highway NH 505 has been hit amid heavy snowfall.
The entire North Indian belt continued to be in the grip of an intense cold wave on Saturday, with Mandhol village in the Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh recording heavy snowfall overnight and the Delhi-NCR waking up to dense fog and low visibility.
The hill state of Himachal Pradesh has received fresh snowfall during the past 24 hours, and the higher mountain regions have received moderate snowfall and rainfall, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials on Thursday.
"We had come here to see the fresh snowfall but there was very less snow around. We enjoyed horse rides and other adventure activities. We shall wait for one or two days, otherwise, we shall go to Manali." said a tourist who had come from Rajasthan
