In view of the recent spike in Dengue cases in several parts of the country, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Wednesday chaired a high-level meeting in the national capital.
"Dengue cases is under controll in Tamil Nadu this year. Till now it's just 4000 cases in Tamil Nadu. Death rates are also decreasing. We do awarness campaign. From October 1, dengue and other fever camps will be conducted across 100 places," the Tamil Nadu Health Minister said.
During his visit, the minister was apprised regarding the need to upgrade X-ray and ultrasound machines, to provide wax therapy in the physiotherapy centre and other requirements including the visit of a specialist from LNJP hospital twice a week.
Kerala Health Minister Veena George's office in its statement said that the results of samples collected from five patients came in as 'negative' for the Nipah virus.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said in Raipur that there was happiness and excitement among women after passage of Women's Reservation Bill (Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam) in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
"This year, the state has reported 4,227 cases so far. Three deaths have been reported. At present, there are 343 active cases of Dengue in the state. It usually spreads in the month of October and November so accordingly, the preparations are in full swing,"Subramanian said.
Rao increased the minimum age for tobacco consumption. He proposed to revise the law for those above 18 years of age to buy tobacco. Rao said that he would amend the COTPA Act to allow people above 21 years of age to consume tobacco.
