Amid the ongoing row over the Waqf board land issue, Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders staged a protest against the state government demanding the removal of "Waqf Board from the documents in government records" and the alleged encroachment by Waqf Board.

Haveri Police station in Karnataka registered an FIR against Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tejasvi Surya for a false claim that a farmer in the district died by suicide after having his land claimed by Waqf board.
