Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday announced an investment of more than Rs 4,800 crore to transform the inland waterways sector of the state at the Advantage Assam 2.0 in Guwahati.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in the presence of Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology and Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw, attended a thematic session titled "Advancing Semiconductor Horizons in Assam for Viksit Bharat," organized as part of the 'Advantage Assam 2.
"In the last decade, Assam and all the Northeastern states have seen the Modi Government act fast and act first when it came to their development," Jaishankar said while addressing the participants of Advantage Assam 2.0.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that in the era of digital transmission, connectivity is the lifeline of progress, and Assam is steadfast in leading this revolution to achieve the fast-paced growth of the state.
Welcoming all the dignitaries to the event, PM Modi said, "East India and North East India are embarking on a new journey of the future today, and Advantage Assam is a mega initiative to intertwine the incredible potential and progress of Assam with the world."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Advantage Assam 2.0 today. Earlier on Monday, he visited the exhibitions showcasing a wide range of investment opportunities in the state.
