Before the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Election, BSF under South Bengal Frontier foiled a smuggling attempt at the International Border in Nadia district and seized 26 gold biscuits weighing 3.2 kg of gold worth Rs 2.35 crore.
The Border Security Force (BSF), South Bengal Frontier, foiled two separate gold smuggling attempts at the Indo-Bangladesh border, arrested two smugglers and recovered 28 gold biscuits, an official said on Wednesday.
The Guwahati Customs Department apprehended three accused and seized 103 gold biscuits weighing 2.60 kg at the Indo-Bhutan border near Darranga LCS, Assam, Customs officials said on Wednesday.
The arrested accused were identified as Devi Singh Kachhawaha, Director of Super Shivshakti Chemical Pvt. Ltd, Chittorgarh, Rajasthan; Priyadarshan Dinkar Deshpandey (tout); Vivek Kumar, Dy.Chief Controller of Explosive and Ashok Kumar Dalela, Dy.Chief Controller of Explosives.

"Based on concrete information, the troops caught a smuggler with 50 gold biscuits and 16 gold bars. The weight of the seized gold is 23 kg and its estimated value is Rs 14 crore. The smuggler was trying to bring this gold from Bangladesh to India," read an official press release.
The Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday apprehended a smuggler and seized 45 gold biscuits weighing 5.24 kg worth Rs 3.07 crores at Integrated Check Post (ICP) Petrapole in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
