BSF thwarts Gold smuggling attempt, apprehends Bangladeshi smuggler with 6 gold biscuits

Border Security Forces apprehended a smuggler with six gold biscuits weighing 699.920 grams while being smuggled from Bangladesh to India. The estimated value of the seized gold biscuits is Rs 39,89,544.

North 24 Parganas (West Bengal) [India], October 8 (ANI): Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a smuggler with six gold biscuits weighing 699.920 grams while being smuggled from Bangladesh to India. The estimated value of the seized gold biscuits is Rs 39,89,544.
The apprehended smuggler was identified as Alamgir, aged 28 years.
According to information, while performing routine frisking of the incoming Bangladeshi passengers, the Metal detector indicated the presence of a metallic substance in the lower body of a passport-inbound passenger named Alamgir. On questioning the passenger, he accepted the presence of gold biscuits in his rectum. later, six gold biscuits were recovered from his possession, which were wrapped with transparent tape and concealed in his rectum. Subsequently, troops apprehended him and seized the gold biscuits.

According to the officials, during interrogation, he revealed that he is a student of BBA (Honours) of the Accountancy department at Padma Government College of Dhaka. He also revealed that a Bangladeshi national of Dhaka city named Ranju Mia offered him to deliver some gold biscuits to India in the Bongaon area and also said that after completely delivering the biscuits, he would pay 5,000 Bangladeshi taka for this work.
Ranju also said, that after crossing over the ICP Petrapole, he had to stay in a Hotel in the Bongaon area, where a person (Name and address not known) would collect the biscuits from him. Then he agreed and took the biscuits from Ranju Mia and further concealed them in his rectum. Further, he revealed that he did not know the actual receiver and involved other associates.
The apprehended person and seized Gold have been handed over to the Customs Department, Petrapole. (ANI)
