Kenyan President William Samoei Ruto on Tuesday hailed New Delhi for its advocacy for the African Union to be included as a permanent member of the G20 while also commending Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the leadership of the global south in the geopolitical space across the world.
Ruto said he and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have agreed that defence forces of India and Kenya will work together in collaboration, sharing information, experience, knowlege and intelligence to ensure that they deal with the challenge of terrorism.

Noting that the countries in the Global South have had an immense impact of climate change on them, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that in order to fulfil the aspirations of the Global South, climate finance and technology are essential.
Advocating for strong global cooperation against climate change, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that it must be ensured that these actions don't compromise the development priorities of the Global South.
The Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh has said that the dialogue at COP28 should be about cutting down emissions and that it is for the developed countries to cut down emissions first.
Ahead of his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has always walked the talk when it comes to climate action and added that even during the G20 Presidency, climate was high on priority.
As India completes 365 days of its G20 Presidency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a column, said that achieving the extraordinary, New Delhi revitalised multilateralism and amplified the Global South's voice.
He noted that the India-UN Development Partnership Fund has supported 76 projects in 54 nations across the Global South and stressed that "this is no small feat."
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov cited the statement of External Affairs Minister S Jaishanakar while elaborating on the change in global structure and multipolarity due to the rise of Global South and Global East.
Describing these laws as very harsh, oppressive, and exploitative for the local population, The Vice President asserted that the time has come when Global South nations should follow India's example and consider reviewing old colonial laws that perpetuate prejudice against local populations.
