Apart from the 19 people reported dead, three have been reported missing, 34 have been injured and a total of 352 animals died in nine incidents of landslides, six incidents of flash floods and one incident of cloudburst reported between June 24 to June 28 in Himachal Pradesh.
While preparations for the Eid al-Adha celebration are in full swing in other places, thousands of people in the flood-hit Barpeta district of Assam are worried.
Tourists and various other passengers on the roads of Himachal have been stranded in heavy traffic jams, especially on the two National Highways, which are heavily blocked due to landslides and flash flooding. The Chandigarh-Manali highway has been blocked near 7 Mile at Mandi.
The Principal Secretary said that they have received reports of six deaths, ten injuries, and 303 animal deaths so far. He further added that the loss due to rain is expected to be Rs 3 crore.
"Union Home Minister called me today and inquired about the flood situation in Assam. He said National Disaster Response Force has been kept on stand-by and for any emergency Government of India is there," he told ANI.
As the flood situation in Assam remains grim, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday spoke to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and assured all possible assistance.
