The Supreme Court on Wednesday adjourned the hearing for July 24 on the bail plea filed by former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student and activist Umar Khalid in a UAPA case related to the alleged conspiracy behind the North-East Delhi riots in February 2020.
“Two people were shot within 300 meters. Both the deceased knew each other...We got the information at around 2.30 am today,” Joy Tirkey, DCP North East Delhi said.
Based on the evidence collected so far during the course of investigation, other sections of IT Act, and also under relevent sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have been added to the case on July 6.

Special team of South-East Delhi Police on Saturday apprehended three persons in connection with an assault and a mobile theft in South-East Delhi, officials said.
A Delhi Court on Thursday acquitted six persons accused of rioting, vandalism, and destroying property during the Delhi riots of February 2020 in the Gokul Puri area, giving them the benefit of the doubt.
"East Delhi, North East Delhi, and Shahdara districts are the entry points for Kanwariyas in Delhi. Therefore, 85 camps are being set up in these three districts so that Kanwariyas do not face any difficulties," the release stated.
Delhi Police on Tuesday filed two supplementary charge sheets in a Delhi court in two cases against former Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Councillor Tahir Hussain and other accused persons.
"On June 30, a video came to our notice in which two persons are seen dancing with Asalha (gun). While taking action in the case, two boys (Vishal, and Prashant) have been arrested. Arms Act case has also been registered," said Rajesh Dev, DCP South East, Delhi.
