External Affairs Minister (EAM) S Jaishankar on Thursday said that the BRICS nations should approach key contemporary issues seriously, constructively and collectively.
Ahead of the BRICS Foreign Ministers' meeting in Cape Town today, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his South African counterpart Naledi Pandor and reviewed the progress of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Earlier on May 21, PM Modi met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Hiroshima and assured him to resolve the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv. This was the first meeting between the two leaders since the Russia-Ukraine conflict that began on February 2
Jaishankar will call on the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa and is expected to hold bilateral meetings with other BRICS Foreign Ministers, as well as, 'Friends of BRICS' Ministers. He will also have an interaction with the Indian diaspora in Capetown.
Sitharaman's statement came weeks after External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar's response in whcih he referred to Rahul Gandhi's meeting with the Chinese ambassador to India during the Doklam crisis.
Taking to Twitter, he extended his greetings to his Ethiopian counterpart Demeke Mekonnen Hassen and said, "Warm greetings to DPM & FM @DemekeHasen and the Government & people of Ethiopia on their National Day."
"Health and Anganwadis have a very deep connection, if we strengthen it further then the steps to move forward will become easier, so this time my focus is on smart Anganwadis," he said.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met the US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti and Nepal's Ambassador to India, Shankar P Sharma to discuss the progress of the relationship between India-US and India-Nepal.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar extended wishes to the government and people of Argentina on the occasion of the country's National Day today, and said that the cooperation between the two nations continues to deliver benefit people on both sides.
"Today, the world is seeing a new India because of the leadership of PM Modi," Jaishankar said upon PM Modi's arrival to India post concluding his three-nation visit to Japan, Papua New Guinea, and Australia.
