Customs department on Friday carried out the destruction of seized drugs worth over Rs 1,500 crore at an incineration facility in Mumbai, an official statement said.
The Magistrate Court has remanded the accused Pakistani national Subair, who was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) to 14 days of judicial custody.
According to the NCB officials, the enumeration of the high-purity methamphetamine seized by NCB and the Indian Navy has been completed. The total seizure has been confirmed as 2525 kg and it is valued at 25,000 crore rupees, as per the official information received from the NCB.
"In the last two years, Assam police seized drugs worth more than Rs 1430.22 crore. During the period, a total of 5580 cases have been registered in the state under NDPS Act," Assam DGP GP Singh said.
Dindoshi Police arrested four alleged drug peddlers, including a Nigerian national, and seized MD drugs worth Rs 32 Lakhs in the international market from them, said the police.
Mizoram police seized a large quantity of contraband drugs worth over Rs 10 crore and apprehended a woman in Aizawl district on Monday evening, an official said on Tuesday.
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai on Saturday seized 60 grams of MDMA comprising 125 tablets and arrested two persons in this regard, officials informed on Saturday.
Acting on a tip-off regarding the transportation of drugs, a team of Karbi Anglong district police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on Wednesday evening jointly set up a Naka checking at the Lahorijan area near Bokajan and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number AS-11DC-4350
Drug Inspector Suresh Kumar said, "The house of RMP K. Nageswara Rao, who runs Adarsha First Aid Clinic, was searched based on a complaint. A total of 68 types of drugs were seized. He was selling the medicines without a licence."
