Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai has accused the state government of drowning Bengaluru in water and washing away the city's former reputation in floods.
Upon receiving information about the incident, a team from the Nadiad Fire Brigade reached the spot near Kanij village and recovered all six bodies from the river, a senior police officer said.
The Rouse Court has recently allowed the de-sealing of three floors of the building in the basement of which the drowning incident occurred and three UPSC aspirants of RAU's IAS Study circle drowned in July 2024.
Police, while sharing information on the incident, said, "Two minors drowned in Bawana Canal. Both were brothers. The body of 12-year-old boy has been recovered; the search is on for his 9-year-old younger brother."
He described it as a mirror reflecting Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's inefficiency, incompetence, and administrative failure and accused the government of drowning the hopes of four crore people who trusted and voted for them.
According to Vikram Bansode, Senior Police Inspector in Dehu Road Police Station, Pimpri-Chinchwad, they received information that in Kinhai village's Indrayani River, 4-5 boys had come for swimming, and three of the boys drowned.
