President Droupadi Murmu and Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan have expressed their condolences for the loss of lives in the high-intensity blast near Delhi's iconic Red Fort that occured on Monday evening, leaving at least eight people dead and many others injured.
Addressing the National Assembly of Angola, President Murmu highlighted the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between India and Angola.
India and Angola signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in the areas of fisheries, aquaculture, and marine resources, as well as another on consular matters during President Droupadi Murmu's visit to the country.
President Murmu and Angolan President João Manuel Goncalves Lourenco agreed to further diversify trade and investment ties in new and emerging areas, including technology, agriculture, health, defence, infrastructure, and people-to-people exchanges, the President's Secretariat said
President Droupadi Murmu met with President João Manuel Goncalves Lourenco of Angola at the Presidential Palace in Luanda on Sunday, further cementing the growing partnership between India and Angola through wide-ranging discussions and the signing of key bilateral agreements.
"India appreciates your efforts to promote peace, security, and stability in Africa. India has always advocated for dialogue and peaceful resolution of conflicts," President Murmu said during bilateral talks with her Angolan counterpart João Manuel Goncalves Lourenco.
"Made in India Vande Bharat high-speed trains are revolutionising our rail sector. We can also supply such trains to Angola. Both our countries have a high youth population. It is essential that our youth acquire relevant skills for the future," President Murmu said.
"Angola plays a vital role in India's energy security. India is a major buyer of Angola's oil and gas. Our oil and gas companies are interested in entering into long-term purchase contracts with Angola," President Murmu said.
President Droupadi Murmu received a ceremonial welcome in Luanda, Angola, in the presence of Angolan President João Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, as part of her official visit to strengthen diplomatic relations and boost bilateral cooperation between India and Angola.

President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday extended heartfelt greetings on the 25th anniversary of Uttarakhand's establishment. She applauded the state's contribution in bringing remarkable development across various sectors.
The Ministry of External Affairs confirmed the President's arrival in the African nation in a post on X as both nations celebrate the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
