A day after participating in the annual Rath Yatra President of India, Droupadi Murmu on Monday morning spent some time at the sea beach of the holy city of Puri.
President Murmu, who is on a four-day visit to Odisha for the Jagannath Rath Yatra, visited Puri's Golden Beach on Sunday morning and shared her thoughts and images from the visit.
"Chief Minister Majhi expressed deep grief over the death of a devotee named Lalitha Bagarti of Saitala block of Balangir district due to the crowd during the procession today and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family," read the post by the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday took part in the annual Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri, one of the significant and eagerly awaited festivals in India.
"Greetings on the start of the sacred Rath Yatra. We bow to Mahaprabhu Jagannath and pray that his blessings constantly remain upon us," posted Prime Minister Modi on X.
The festival offers a vibrant and spiritual experience for the lakhs of devotees who will gather to witness this auspicious occasion. This year, the event will be held for two days due to specific celestial arrangements.
Odisha Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mohan Charan Majhi, along with Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, took part in a cleanliness drive in Puri on Saturday, ahead of the start of the annual Shri Jagannath Yatra.
During the ceremony, four CRPF bravehearts were posthumously awarded the Kirti Chakra for their valour in the fight against Maoists in Bijapur on April 3, 2021.
