Amid the chain of heated arguments between the BJP and Congress over Karnataka Minister DK Suresh's remark of a 'separate nation', the Congress MP maintained his stance, accusing the BJP of unfair treatment towards the state of Karnataka.
Speaking to the reporters after the Union Budget-2024 was presented in the Lok Sabha, the Congress MP accused the centre of not releasing funds to South Indian states and giving money collected from the southern states to the states in the north.
Speaking at the public grievance redressal program 'Government at Your Doorstep' near Yelachenahalli here, he said, "MP D K Suresh has raised the issue of drinking water and traffic congestion in the area. It is the conviction of Suresh to provide drinking water to the people of the region.
"Instead of providing a satisfactory answer to the demands of the Opposition members, the BJP has resorted to suspending members from the House. A total of 146 members have been suspended. This is a murder of democracy," DK Suresh said.
"No financial crunch, everything is going on smoothly...Five guarantees' implementation is going on, whatever commitment we have given to Karnataka has already been done...," DK Suresh said.
"I am not fully happy but in the interest of Karnataka, we wanted to fulfil our commitment...That is why DK Shivakumar had to accept. In future we will see, there is a long way to go. ...I wish it (CM post for DK Shivakumar) but it didn't happen, we will wait and see," said Congress MP DK
Shivakumar was seen arriving at the residence of his brother and party MP DK Suresh in the national capital today. He is set to meet with Kharge and Rahul Gandhi later this evening.
Congress had last month launched an attack against Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai alleging that he was directly involved in alleged electoral fraud in Bengaluru.
