According to officials, the seized gold is valued at Rs 98 lakh, and it was brought by a passenger who had arrived from the capital city of Qatar, Doha.
The pavilion has six dedicated Helpdesks on GST, Customs, GSTN, ICEGATE and CBIC Mitra to help guide the taxpayers and public regarding Rules/Processes and to address their issues on the spot.
"On the basis of profiling, Delhi Customs at IGI Airport have seized gold bars weighing 5,198 gms valued at 2.81 crore brought by two Indian nationals from Bangkok. All two passengers were arrested under the Customs Act of 1962," said the customs officials.
Delhi Airport Customs seized narcotics worth Rs 8.3 crore, weighing 593 grammes, from a foreign national at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, an official said on Monday.
As a part of Special Campaign 3.0, Delhi's Customs Preventive Zone destroyed 328 kg of narcotic substances, valued at Rs 284 crore, and 80.2 lakh sticks of foreign-origin cigarettes, worth Rs 9.85 crore, said an official statement.
"At the facility, 60.3628 kg of illicit narcotics, including 56.346 kg Heroin, 2.150 kg MDMA Hydrochloride, 0.2193 Kg Marijuana, and 1.6475 Kg Ganja along with 10,894 NDPS-TIDIGESIC capsules weighing 87 kg were destroyed by incineration," said the release.
"AirCustoms@IGIA have booked 3 separate cases of smuggling after 6522 gms of gold concealed by 5 pax in their clothes & rectum were recovered and seized. Value of seized gold is Rs. 3.43 Cr Further investigations are on," the Delhi Customs (Airport and General) posted on X.
"On spot profiling, Air Customs at IGI Airport arrested a passenger who arrived from Dubai after 991.4 gms gold valued at Rs 51.72 lakhs was extracted from 3 capsules concealed in his rectum and seized under Customs Act, 1962. Further investigations are ongoing," officials informed.
"Delhi Customs held one Kenyan passenger who arrived at IGI Airport, Delhi from Addis Ababa with three whisky bottles collectively weighing 4.145 Kg, and recovered a total of 2537 grams of cocaine (approximately), having an international value of Rs 38.05 Crore," an official statement said.
