The Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, have booked a case of smuggling of narcotic substance suspected to be 'Heroin', against one Indian passenger who arrived at Terminal-3, Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi on Saturday (November, 9) from Bangkok via Kuala Lumpur, said
These goods, valued at approx Rs 460 crores, were seized by the Customs Department for violation of the Customs Act, NDPS Act and the Cigarette and other Tobacco Products Act.
Delhi customs intercepted two passengers on Wednesday at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi for an alleged smuggling attempt of 538 grams of gold and four iPhones.
"Based on intelligence, Delhi Airport Customs intercepted a lady passenger travelling from Hongkong to Delhi carrying 26 iPhone 16 Pro Max concealed inside her vanity bag (wrapped in tissue paper)," said customs.
A flyer on Dammam-Delhi flight was intercepted by the customs officers at IGI airport for possessing two gold bars. He had hidden them inside the battery box of his mobile. Further probe is on.
Distancing himself from the allegations after Delhi Customs detained two people, one of whom claimed to be his assistant, Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, has said that he is "shocked" by the news, adding that the man was a part-time employee.
In a post on X, Delhi Customs said, "On the basis of profiling, Customs@IGI Airport have seized 2953 grams of Osmium Powder and 2 luxury watches valued at Rs. 72.3lakhs from two Indian Nationals who arrived from HongKong."
The E-Cigarettes were concealed in the garb of hair accessories. Import of e-cigarettes is prohibited under the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (PMIETSDSA) Act, 2019.
According to officials, "Delhi Customs Preventive, New Customs House, seized 27 gold bars weighing more than 3 kg worth Rs 1.96 crore from two foreign nationals at the Indira Gandhi International Airport on Thursday."
