Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday expressed his grief over the rail mishap involving the Kanchanjungha Express, which took place in the Darjeeling district of West Bengal on Monday.
Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Monday inspected the Kanchenjunga Express train accident site in Darjeeling district and said that the rescue operation has been completed.
Following the train mishap in Darjeeling of West Bengal, which claimed eight lives and left over 20 injured, the Tripura government has sent a two-member team of officials of the state government to extend assistance to the injured.
Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday condoled the loss of lives in the accident in Darjeeling involving the Kanchenjunga Express train and a goods train in which at least eight passengers were killed and over 20 people sustained injuries.
The train wreck in West Bengal's Darjeeling was due to the disregarding of the signal by the Loco pilot of the goods train which hit the rear end of the Kanchenjunga Express train, killing at least eight people and injuring over twenty, said Railway top official.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has left for Darjeeling to visit the site of a train accident involving the Kanchenjunga Express train and a goods train that killed at least five passengers and left over 20 people injured.
A train accident happened in in Phansidewa area of Darjeeling district on Monday, said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She said that Kanchenjunga Express had reportedly been hit by a goods train.
