The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted Popular Front of India (PFI) national coordinator Ibrahim Puthanathani custody parole for six hours to attend his daughter's wedding.
Opposition leaders have criticized the ED's highhandedness for questioning Balaji for long hours and then taking him into custody in the wee hours of Wednesday.
"The procedure adopted by Enforcement Directorate is totally illegal and unconstitutional. He was taken into custody by ED without informing him of the grounds of his arrest. We will fight this case legally," said DMK MP and advocate, NR Elango while talking to the reporters.
Hours after minister V Senthil Balaji was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Tamil Nadu minister Ponmudi on Wednesday, termed it a "revengeful act" and said that the centre is doing wrong against states where there is a non-BJP government.
DMK minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said, "Senthil Balaji is undergoing treatment. We will deal with it legally. We are not afraid of the threatening politics of the BJP-led central government".
Delhi's Patiala House Court on Tuesday extended the Enforcement Directorate custody of Sanjay Prakash Rai 'Sherpuriya' for further three days in a money laundering case.
The arrested accused was produced before the Competent Court and remanded to 4 days police custody.
CBI said that a case was already registered in this regard on February 8, 2022.
