de Kock has decided to retire from the ODI format at the end of the World Cup, as confirmed by Cricket South Africa (CSA) in their squad announcement release.
Cricket South Africa has named their 15-member playing squad for the marquee event, on Tuesday, 5 September, which will be led by their regular ODI skipper Temba Bavuma.
Skipper Temba Bavuma, David Miller, Aiden Markram, Anrich Nortje, Keshav Maharaj were among the players who were seen rocking the jersey in a video posted by Cricket South Africa (CSA).
This decision comes after Suné Luus stepped down from her role as the team's interim captain and due to the unavailability of the vice-captain, Chloe Tryon, for the Pakistan series.
South Africa became the latest country to provide equal pay across genders after they announced their male and female cricketers would receive the same match fees for international matches.
Nortje and Ismail had won the top honours back in 2021 as well. In all, this is the third time that Ismail has clinched the top award in women's cricket in South Africa.
The event will see the return of an in-person awards show for the first time in three years, and a theme of 'A Summer to Celebrate' aims to incorporate the most memorable elements of the past season that included numerous successes on and off the field.
