The Special Task Force (STF) of Assam police seized a large quantity of contraband drugs worth Rs 1.2 crore and apprehended a drug peddler in Kamrup district on Friday night, officials said.
"A lady drug peddler has been apprehended along with 30 vials containing suspected heroin weighing 42.5 grammes and cash worth Rs 3,470," Partha Sarathi Mahanta added.
The Border Security Force and Punjab police recovered a contraband item suspected to be heroin from a farming field adjacent to Rattan Khurd village in Amritsar on Friday, said officials.
On November 1, during the afternoon hours, on specific information regarding the presence of a drone, a joint search operation was launched by BSF and Punjab Police on the outskirts of Village Rajatal, District Amritsar, the BSF Punjab Frontier said in a statement.
A joint operation was launched by the Punjab Police and BSF on the basis of specific input that was received regarding the presence of narcotics items on the outskirts of Kalsian village.
"During the search operation, at about 7:10 pm, a drone in broken condition along with 1 battery and 1 broken bottle wrapped with yellow adhesive tape, attached with a ring for hanging it with a drone, was recovered from the farming field adjacent to Village Dholan, said the statement.
The search operation launched during the morning hours of Saturday at around 8:30 am led to the recovery of a drone that had contraband items attached to it with the help of tape, said an official statement.
The Border Security Force (BSF) deployed at the Amritsar border once again foiled the nefarious designs of smugglers to smuggle contraband drugs with the recovery of 360 grammes of heroin concealed in a bottle from Amritsar's Daoke village, the BSF said in a release.
"Recovered foreign-origin cigarettes, whiskey and beer worth Rs 27.68 lakh in the general Area Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road, Champhai district on October 24," said a statement issued by Assam Rifles on Wednesday.
