In a joint operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police and Karimganj district Police seized a large quantity of contraband drugs worth Rs 100 crores in Karimganj district on Tuesday.
According to police, on December 30, acting on credible information, the Commissioner's Task Force, South-East Zone team along with OU Sity Police apprehended Naveen with possession of the contraband at Habsiguda under the limits of OU Sity Police Station.
Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, in a joint operation with Punjab Police, recovered a drone laden with a contraband item in the Tarn Taran district, officials said on Saturday.
The BSF troops on Saturday heard a buzzing sound of a suspected flying object coming from the Pakistan side after which a joint search operation was launched by BSF and Punjab Police on the outskirts of Mari Kamboke village in Tarn Taran district.
"During search two numbers of soap cases of heroin have been seized from the specially made chambers of the vehicle. The police team apprehended four persons," SP Numal Mahatta said.
According to the police, the accused, Mohd Javeed, 51, used to purchase Ganja from Vinod Singh, 45, for Rs 150 per one sachet and sell the same to needy customers at a higher price of Rs. 200 to 300 per sachet. The sachet weight is about 10 grammes.
