India has achieved a historic milestone by surpassing 1 billion tonnes in coal production, marking a significant step towards meeting the country's growing energy demands, Union Minister For Coal and Mines, G Kishan Reddy said on Friday.
The total coal production from captive and commercial mines for the financial year 2024-25 has reached 167.36 million tonnes (MT) as of February 2025, the ministry of Ministry of Coal said on Wednesday.
