In view of the 'Bandh' called by the VHP and other Hindu organisations over Bemetara violence in Chhattisgarh, the BJP and VHP urged the people to close their businesses today.
According to Additional SP Abhishek Maheshwari, B.Ed, D.Ed Association sought permission for a protest in Budhatalab area for 100 people but 1000 people gathered which ultimately triggered a scuffle with police.
Informing about the Bandh in the state, SP Bemetara said,"Bandh has been called tomorrow in view of yesterday's incident. We are ready for this. We hope everything remains peaceful."
Amid heavy police deployment and imposition of section 144, the last rites of 22-year-old Bhuneswar Sahu, who was killed in a clash unfolded between two communities following a minor dispute, was performed in Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
State BJP Spokesperson Kedar Gupta said, "Bharatiya Janata Party will join the Chhattisgarh bandh called by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad over the incident in Bemetara that resulted in the death of a youth and the bandh will be held on Monday."
