The Central Goverment will carry out the census in two phases, starting March 1, 2027. The first phase of 2027, which will focus on listing operations, is scheduled to begin on October 1, 2026, in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
