Guwahati city police on Friday recovered 20 live cattle carried inside two vehicles during a checkpoint at the Jorabat Link Road near Guwahati. Four people were arrested on the spot for smuggling the cattle.

Guwahati city police recovered and seized 115 cattle heads in three separate operations and arrested nine cattle smugglers in the last 72 hours, police said on Monday.
Assam Police foiled an interstate cattle smuggling bid and recovered 70 cattle heads from two trucks at the Jorabat area in Assam's Kamrup (Metro) district along the Assam-Meghalaya border on Saturday.
Dinesh Kumar Yadav, Inspector General of BSF Guwahati Frontier on Thursday said that this year till November 30, BSF Guwahati Frontier has seized 5695 cattle heads, 2804 kg of ganja, 40202 Yaba tablets.
The Border Security Force (BSF) intercepted illicit smuggling activities alongside India-Bangladesh border and seized items worth Rs 11 lakhs in various operations, said an official statement by the BSF.
