Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Tata Aircraft Complex for manufacturing C-295 aircraft will strengthen India-Spain relations as well as 'Make in India, Make for the World' mission.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on Monday inaugurated the TATA-Airbus aircraft assembly facility complex in Vadodara. The facility will manufacture C-295 aircraft at the TATA Advanced Systems Limited campus.
The facility is built at the TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus. A total of 56 aircraft are there under the C-295 programme, of which 16 are being delivered directly by Airbus from Spain and the remaining 40 are to be made in India.
Notably, PM Modi and Spanish PM Sanchez will inaugurate the Final Assembly Line Plant of C295 aircraft at Vadodara, a flagship 'Make in India' initiative in aviation sector, which is being set up by Tata Advanced Systems in collaboration with Airbus Spain.
India had signed a contract with Airbus in 2021 to buy 56 C-295 transport aircraft of which 16 were to be directly sent from Spain while 40 had to be manufactured in India at Tata facility in Vadodara.
Spanish President Pedro Sanchez will be on a three-day visit to India from October 27 during which he will hold delegation level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
