The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police claimed to have busted a job fraud racket operating in as many as 17 states in India and arrested its mastermind from Bihar.
According to the police, the accused persons had extorted about Rs 5,79,500 from the complainant and had demanded more money for settling the matter with the girl's family.
The crime branch arrested the accused from a hotel on Tekanpur Jhansi Highway in the district. The team also recovered exam paper, laptop, mobile phones, and printers from the spot.
Uttarakhand Police busted a fake employment centre in Laksar and arrested four youths accused of duping people on the pretext of providing government jobs, police said.
The accused have been identified as Sanjay Saulkar (52) and Vishal Pawar (38), residents of Mumbai. The accused used to do some business there but behind it they used to commit cyber crimes.
