Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot has ordered an enquiry by the Special Commissioner of Transport into recent accidents involving government buses.
Two people were killed and four were critically injured after a bus travelling from Bhalessa to Thathri skidded off the road and plunged into a 200-foot-deep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir, said officials.
Days after the Unnao bus accident that claimed the lives of 18 people, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials of the Transport Department to ensure strict compliance with road safety regulations.
According to the official report, the bus was carrying a total of 57 passengers. While 18 people succumbed to their injuries, 19 passengers sustained injuries and the remaining 20 who were safe were sent to Delhi in other vehicles.
"About 20 people were safe, and they are being sent to Delhi. We have referred six people to the Trauma Centre, the rest will be treated at the district hospital. We have adequate arrangements for treatment and we will take all necessary action as soon as possible," Rathi said.

18 people have lost their lives and more than 30 have been injured in a tragic accident where a double-decker sleeper bus rammed into a milk container on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway, in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday.
According to the Superintendent of Police (SP), Bilaspur, Rajnish Singh, "A bus full of passengers overturned in Bilaspur. The incident took place on the Lalkhadan Over Bridge in Torwa police station area. More than 50 passengers were travelling in the bus."
