Several labourers are feared dead after a wall of an under-construction building in a residential society collapsed in the Sidhrawali area of Gurugram.
Fire Brigade Sub-Inspector Sushil Kumar Dubey told ANI, "It was a three-storey chocolate factory located in the Lasudia police station area and we were extinguishing a fire incident that broke out here this afternoon. In the meantime, an explosion occurred inside the factory building and
Speaking on the incident, Congress MLA Sofia Firdous said, "In a very sad and unfortunate incident, three members of a family died after a dilapidated building collapsed. Two others are injured."
Assistant Divisional Fire Officer VN Sangale told ANI, "The building collapsed at around 1 pm and four fire engines immediately reached the spot...Some people have been injured and have been taken to the hospital...Rescue operation is underway..."
According to police officials, the incident took place around 9 PM in the Daulat Ganj area, where a three-storey building, including a basement, suddenly caved in. Initial reports suggested that 13 individuals were trapped under the debris.
The building, located at Plot No. 2A, Pocket AB, Badarpur Extension, near Indira Nursery, had a basement and four storeys. It came down due to its dilapidated condition.
Amid the ongoing heavy rainfall in Punjab, a wall collapse incident was reported at a residential society in the Zirakpur area of S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) district of Punjab.
According to Virar Police, two people have died so far in the incident. Nine others were rescued from the debris and admitted to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
