A co-ordination meeting with officers from different departments of Punjab Police and sister agencies from Central departments was held at Frontier HQrs BSF on Friday.
The event took place at the Rangia Sectoral Headquarter of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), where experts discussed the ongoing trend of wildlife crimes and how border police can play a crucial role in deterring them.
"Based on concrete information, the troops caught a smuggler with 50 gold biscuits and 16 gold bars. The weight of the seized gold is 23 kg and its estimated value is Rs 14 crore. The smuggler was trying to bring this gold from Bangladesh to India," read an official press release.
In yet another success in its drive against trans-border smuggling at the Indo-Bangladesh border, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a smuggler and recovered illegal arms, according to an official statement.

Border Security Force (BSF), in a joint operation with Meghalaya police, seized a huge quantity of Medicines, Clothing, and Glass frames worth Rs 88 lakhs, which were meant to be smuggled to Bangladesh from the international border of South West Khasi Hills, said BSF in a statement.
