The Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) held a sector commander-level coordination meeting on Wednesday at the Sonamasjid border outpost in Bangladesh aimed at ensuring peace and cooperation along the Indo-Bangladesh border, as per BSF South Bengal Frontier.
The Border Security Force (BSF) has lodged a "strong protest" with its Bangladesh counterpart, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), against illegal crossing by Bangladeshi miscreants and abduction of its personnel.
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday visited the Ram Rai Kuti Border Outpost of Dhubri district and interacted with the BSF Jawans in Sainik Sammelan at the BOP centre.
During the meeting, progress of various communications with Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and status of safety of minority communities in Bangladesh, especially in bordering districts, were discussed.
The BSF delegation was led by Manoj Kumar Barnwal, DIG, Sector HQ BSF Shillong while Md. Saiful Islam Chowdhury, Deputy Director General, Sector Commander BGB, Sylhet, Bangladesh led the BGB delegates.
The border guarding forces of India and Bangladesh on Monday agreed to undertake combined efforts to bring down incidents of assault on Border Security Force (BSF) personnel by trans-border criminals of the neighbouring country.

Miller noted that Indian and Bangladeshi border security agencies are in communication and he would defer to them to speak about their respective investigations into the circumstances of the shooting.
India and Bangladesh will discuss a wide range of issues related to border management at the 54th BSF-BGB Director General level border coordination conference from March 5-9.
