As voting continues in six Lok Sabha constituencies of Mumbai, the financial capital is witnessing a lower voter turnout with 27.28 per cent till 1:30 PM despite a good number of celebrity voters turning to polling booths and appealing citizens to exercise their franchise.
The fifth phase of polling for Lok Sabha polls on May 20 across 49 parliamentary constituencies spread over six states and two Union Territories (UTs) with 6.33% voter turnout till 9 am, polling booths in many parts of Mumbai witnessed a low turnout.
In view of the fifth phase of voting in the six of Mumbai's Lok Sabha constituencies, Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar said that police personnel were deployed at polling booths yesterday itself.
