Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Wednesday emphasised that the Booth Level Officer (BLO) serves as the foundational pillar of India's electoral democracy.

Voting began at 7:30 am today, with people queuing at their respective polling booths. A total of 1,700 candidates are set to contest the polls in Mumbai.
A total of 2,734,817 have been deleted from the rolls. Out of the total, 6,42,234 were found to be dead, 19,13,540 were marked shifted or absent (from their residence), and 1,79,043 were already enrolled at multiple places.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr Anil Manhas, told ANI, "For the drive, we have set up 535 pulse polio booths in the district and deployed 144 teams. Our target is to vaccinate 86,192 children under the age of five. We have also deployed 2148 people at the booths."
