A total of 26 worker were present at the site during the tragic incident. A rescue team of 38 Battalion, Border Security Force, Sakawrtuichhun (Aizawl) reached the spot with the medical team and tracker dogs at the site upon receiving information.
The National Disaster Relief Force and Quick Response Team have recovered 18 bodies so far and rescued three injured after an under-construction railway bridge collapsed in Mizoram's Aizwal district.
Three members of an expatriate Indian family, hailing from the Davanagere district of Karnataka, were found dead at their residence. Their relatives met Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday and requested to bring dead bodies here.
Chief Secretary of the government of Himachal Pradesh Prabodh Saxena, while speaking to ANI said that two bodies of a family are still to be recovered.
Bodies in the morgues are also decomposing as prolonged power outages have left them without refrigeration, the group said. There is also no medical staff left, leaving the corpses “exposed and untreated.”
"Today is the 7th day of the search and rescue operation at Summer Hill area. So far, we have recovered 17 bodies, and we are searching for other three victims. Teams of SDRF, NDRF and Indian Army are present at the spot," Roop Sharan, an NDRF inspector said while speaking to ANI.

"Twenty to 25 people are trapped under debris here. A total of 21 people have died in the last 24 hours in the state. I appeal to people to stay indoors, to not venture near rivers and landslide-prone areas. Restoration work will begin as soon as rain stops," the chief minister said.
